More SOAP from my Duck Hunter ADA friend (I told him I was going to post this so he had fair warning!)

Ahhh,

SOAP notes, remember those very well and I was damn good at em. Worked at a medium security Regional Corrections Facility in Fort Lewis for a year. I was good - (still am) :) . Your get rid of Sunday scenario, hmm, that may work but you are only asking us to turn on Saturday's - Saturday will have the name of being the bad day that causes Monday's, this game has been played by many times on my rez where they have fun celebrating into the night Friday, wake up Saturday and say that they will make the best of Sunday, and have "fun" into Monday! So our tribal members move forward to making the end of the week turn into the rest of the week and they wake up saying that it was the Friday that caused us to loath the next day where we are obligated to return to our responsibilities. LOL. This is confusing and I don't wish to discuss it any more. Funny how I get all riled up on talking to myself.

SOAP Notes for Monday:

Subjective: Today was just not my day. Not that anything particularly bad happened... not that anything really happened at all. It just was not a very exceptional day. You have to understand that my normal motto is "Every day's a holiday! Especially when you're native!" Normally, I am very upbeat.... and anyone who knows me knows that I live for the upbeat....... so to have a gray and dreary day is not the norm in my world of existence.

Objective: So one of my friends notices that I am not my usual self, which was cause for alarm, and asked the question "what's wrong?" Of course, I couldn't point to any one thing as being the cause of this unusual state of being, so I just blame it on Monday.

Analysis: Monday, of course, everyone knows about Mondays. Usually this one word explains it all, but it wasn't working today. Rather than accepting the fact that Mondays happen, we ended up trying to figure out exactly what CAUSES Mondays.... What is the underlying cause for the symptoms usually attributed to Mondays? Wow. Big surprise. We determined that it is actually Sundays that cause Mondays..... Ok.... so what do we do about Sundays? After discussing this, we decided that in order for Mondays to discontinue, we are going to have to cancel Sundays. It is the only way to be relieved of the symptoms of Mondays. The next step is to put out a memo that will declare all future Sundays cancelled effective immediately until further notice...... this should take care of all future outbreaks of Mondays.....

Prognosis: Good if we can get the whole world to go along with this.

A wise man once told me, he said "v la fh, you know, when pow wow season is over and you missed watching the chicken dance finals and you lost all your money in stickgame and the cheese is all gone and the light bulbs need changing..... well, sometimes you just gotta say fuggit."

Ah-kay..... I guess that best describes where I am today.... the flowers in my garden have lost their bloom, i'm down to my last drop of patchouli, my fry bread has gone flat, and I haven't updated this page in over a month..... all the usual indicators that summer is officially over and it's time to take life a little more seriously now.

But being born native, I see it as my right, my duty, to spend my summers over-indulging and living on borrowed time.... and that's exactly what I did. I guess it's a habit.... living life as it was intended to be lived... not exactly following the instructions, but enjoying myself and having a good time... it's my way of acknowledging the fact that life is too short and you only live once. They say you are supposed to live and learn. One of these days I just might commit my brain cells to learning, but for today I have decided to mostly live.
