The Plight of Eugene Little Coyote and the Northern Cheyenne
About this viedo:
December 28, 2007, Elected Tribal President, Eugene Little Coyote was forcibly removed from his office by a team of BIA SWAT officers. Since then a series of Appeals have come to a dead end when Majel Russell, Principal Deputy Secretary, Bureau of Indian Affairs, preempted the Interior Board of Indian Appeals process and denied an appeal by Eugene Little Coyote. One may argue that it is merely a personal matter, but with the world's largest undeveloped Coal Bed Methane Gas Field underfoot, the Northern Cheyenne may have more than a personal matter to look for.

thank you very much for honoring our people and President Little Coyote!
The real honor comes from those willing to stand up and defend sovereignty, and I truly admire the courage shown by the Northern Cheyenne in this time of crisis. As noted in my post above, BIA abuse takes many forms, and it has been going on for far too long. It seems rediculous now to think we weren't allowed to keep our own cash. Lawrence and his mother were jailed for it. She took a stand. That was about 90 years ago. Today, Indians across the country enjoy the liberty of handling our own personal *finances. You never know the far reaching affects your actions could have not only across the country, but also through time. Keep fighting the good fight!
[*except for the Cobell case, which is another matter]
