Resolutions are Made to be Broken

Wouldn't you know it, I already broke two of my three New Year's resolutions. The first one was to leave work at the 4:30 pm quitting time everyday like everyone else. I almost heard that one break the moment I made it. I don't know what got into me, but somehow I thought if I formalized this long pending thought that it would make a difference in my work habits. I might as well face it - I get way too many interruptions in a day to get things done in a nice neat little 8 hour period. Sometimes it's people who pop into my office or call and just want to chit chat, which I love to do, but it makes me wonder - don't other people have work to do? But most of the time it's people who have problems they want me to help them with, which led me to breaking my second resolution: not to set up any new online accounts.

Yesterday I got a call from someone who wanted help with an issue of injustice. Due to the nature of the issue I won't go into detail, but it sounded very much like police brutality. I called on a few people and got a reference for an attorney who has dealt with police issues before. Out of curiosity, I googled this attorney and found him on this very cool website: http://www.avvo.com It's an awesome site where you can find attorneys, check out their profiles, read their reviews, or even submit questions to their free legal advice forum. It's funny because I'm not the one who needs legal advice, but I found myself signing up for yet another free account just so I could participate in technology justice. *Sigh* I guess I'm a hopeless technology enthusiast. Either that or an internet junky. Hmmm, do you think now would be the time to start my own online 12-step internet recovery chat program?
